BURIALS. The Burial Rules. (SECTION 16.) CHAPTER 19. [16TH MAY, 1914.]

1. These rales may be cited as the Burials Rules.

2. Except with the special permission of the Sanitary Board, all burials in a Christian cemetery shall be carried out by the Government undertaker.

3. Notice of the death of any person whose body it is desired to bury in the Christian cemetery, shall be given to the Inspector of the Sanitary Board within three hours of such death if the same shall have occurred between the hours of 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. and in all other cases before 8 a.m.

4. The Inspector of the Sanitary Board on receipt of such notice shall, if required, immediately inform the Government undertaker who shall forthwith proceed to the residence of the deceased to receive instructions.

BURIAL GROUNDS IN SANDAKAN SANITARY BOARD AREA.

5. The following rules shall apply to all burial grounds in the Sandakan Sanitary Board area.

6. The licensee of every burial ground shall keep, or cause to be kept, a Burial Register in which shall be entered particulars relating to every corpse buried in such burial ground.

7. No person shall bury or assist in burying any corpse unless a Burial Permit in the form of the First Schedule shall have been granted by the Registrar of Births and Deaths.

8. Every Burial Register for a non-Christian burial ground shall be substantially in the form of the Second Schedule, but may be kept in English, Chinese or Malay.

9. No person shall bury or assist in burying any corpse unless the Burial Permit shall have been delivered to the keeper of the Burial Register of the burial ground in which the corpse is intended to be buried.

10. The keeper of every Burial Register shall file every Burial Permit delivered to him.

11. No person shall exhume from any licensed burial ground any corpse unless the licence to exhume has been exhibited to the keeper of the Burial Register of the burial ground in which the corpse is buried.

12. The keeper of every Burial Register shall record therein the date and number of every licence to exhume exhibited to him and the date of exhumation.

13. The keeper of every Burial Register shall deposit such Burial Register together with the file of Burial Permits at the Office of the Sandakan Sanitary Board after each period of two years and such Burial Register shall be filed there.
